Sessions vol. XV "Trouble Wading"

“Announcing Sessions vol. XV "Trouble Wading" featuring emerging composer-vocalist and AudioFemme Agenda Grant recipient Shara Lunon in an evening showcasing her original music and arrangements, joined by award-winning bassoonist, Joy Guidry.

With a musical vernacular that is a product of the evolution of Black Musical Traditions, Shara returns to the source for "Trouble Wading," an evening focused and sourced from Spirituals.

Expanding on that canonical concept to include text and sources of her personal spirituality, Shara is joined in new collaboration with Joy Guidry to weave an evening that holds the spontaneous and immediate in close context with the past, hoping to “shake some history off the walls” and moreover, shake the audience from lassitude and frustration, into hope and a sense of community.

We hope you will join us for what will be an extraordinary evening of deep musical and poetic import, and to be introduced to this extraordinary musical voice in advance of her 2022 MATA Festival debut later this Spring.

Set once again in the spacious Coffey Street Studio, for tickets link in bio or visit amandaplusjames.com

Proof of vaccination will still be required to enter the building. Masks will be required when not enjoying refreshments.

Come join in!”
